Haemul Pajeon 해물파전 Korean Seafood Scallion Pancake

Haemul Pajeon 해물파전 Korean Seafood Scallion Pancake

As the name suggests, Haemul Pajeon is a whole Korean dish with lots of spring onions and seafood. It is cooked with fresh seafood like squid, clam meat, shrimp, mussels, etc. and vegetables such as spring onions and Cheongyang chili peppers.

Haemul Pajeon, characterised by its harmonious taste, provides nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and fats.
Instead of seafood, there are a variety of Jeon 전 dishes with kimchi, potatoes and chives, each with its own unique taste.

This is a good food to eat especially when you feel a little hungry.
Haemul Pajeon is characterised by its crispness and can be eaten hot after baking, which doubles the flavour. It is eaten as a snack and is usually served with korean traditional liquor, Makgeolli 막걸리 or Dongdongju 동동주.

Koreans tend to seek out this dish in rainy weather, so restaurants selling seafood and green onion pancakes are often full on rainy days. It is speculated that the sound of rain and the sound of cooking Jeon over oil are similar, leading to an association. If you dip well-cooked seafood and green onion pancakes in soy sauce, the dampness and irritation of a rainy day will disappear.
