Samgyetang (삼계탕) – Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup is a beloved health dish in Korea, cherished by locals and travelers alike. Known as a traditional summer meal, Samgyetang is celebrated for its nourishing qualities. This hearty soup is prepared by filling a young chicken with ingredients like glutinous rice, ginseng, jujubes, chestnuts, and astragalus, then simmering it for approximately four hours to achieve a rich, flavorful broth.
The ginseng-infused chicken is tender and full of flavor, while the broth is deeply savory and nutritious. You’ll typically find Samgyetang only in specialized restaurants, as establishments that fail to deliver on quality rarely last—ensuring that diners enjoy a high standard of this classic dish.
